What's with the white paint?

Hello again fine artists and fine art enthusiasts.

For my next topic of conversation I thought I would discuss the most fundamental and important of all paint choices - White paint.

Namely, what type of white paint do you use, should you use or could you use?

Titanium, Titanium-Zinc, Zinc, Flake, Cremnitz, et al..... How to make sense of it all? What is what? Does it matter?

Tintoretto aptly stated that his two favorite colors were Black and White. A great colorist choosing Black and White as his two favorite colors is very revealing and quite provocative.

I will give my readers a little while to mull all this over. Feel free to opine, or feel free to just read on!

In my next blog entry I will discuss some of my thoughts on the different white paints, my recommendations, my thoughts on the market forces as they apply to artist's white paint as well as some art historical thoughts on that most basic and fundamental of artist's palette choices.

Until that time!
